Frequently Asked Questions

What does Walnut do?
Walnut is a personal shopping assistant that helps you become more eco-friendly when you shop online.

Once you download our free Chrome extension and shop at one of our brand partners, we get a commission which is used to support eco-friendly projects.

This is just our first product and we’re working hard to release our next set of features that will help you easily take action against climate change.

How does it work?
Once you’ve installed Walnut, you’ll see a small “W” in a leaf icon at the top right corner of your browser. If the leaf is colored green, it means you’re visiting a Walnut brand partner. If it’s grey, it means this is not a Walnut partner (yet!)
In addition, when you visit a brand partner, a small window will pop up automatically to let you know Walnut is activated.

Then, all you have to do is shop regularly. When you make a purchase, Walnut will pop up again to let you know you’re awesome and thanks to you a donation was made (out of our profits) to an eco-friendly project.

You da best! 😍

Can I deactivate Walnut?
Sure! All you have to do is go to the “manage extension” section in your Chrome settings, find Walnut and disable it.

How do you make money?
Answer: We earn a commission from brands when you purchase through our extension. We then donate 33% of our profits to projects that aim to solve the climate crisis. What we don't do is sell or share your data in any way! (you can read our Privacy Policy here)

How do you use my data?

The only way we use your data is to improve your personal experience with Walnut. We will never share it or sell it to anyone. Want to learn more? Don't hesitate to reach out.

Who’s behind Walnut?
We are three friends from Tel Aviv, Israel. Two of us recently became parents to beautiful baby girls and that’s what pushed us to use the knowledge and expertise we earned working in the tech industry for many years and create a product that will have a positive impact.

This is for our daughters, our families and yours. Read our story here.
